No Tricks OR Treats

So, hmmmm, am I the only parent blogger out there with small children who isn't posting pictures of costumed kids in honor of my favorite holiday last week? Am I the only one who thinks one year olds don't need to trick or treat since most of the candies are choking hazards anyway? I'm afraid to think of my guys with a whole bag of chocolate (I don't know what's scarier, the mess or the effect on their little systems)! I forgot to even rent a horror movie let alone dress my kids up and swing through the neighborhoods. But remember, I'm also the Grinch who failed to produce a birthday cake for three first birthdays last June. Jerry's already rolling his eyes about Christmas (they don't need any new toys and they don't care about this stuff right now anyway). Ah, well, next year boys we go All-American (or All-Western). I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Nope, you're not the only one. You'll notice I have no pictures on my site and I have a two year old. Oh, and I don't think we've bought them anything for Christmas or birthdays either... they get so many gifts from Grandmas, why do they need one from us too??

We have a boatload of photos and video of Helen in her costume, but pretty much the whole point of the costume was just getting photos and video. I don't know that we would have even done that if someone didn't give us a hand-me-down costume. Helen also got 0 candy (although I get to eat an entire bag of snack size peanut butter M&Ms - left overs the trick or treaters missed out on by skipping our house). I think that is the case with most one-year-olds' first Halloween - basically just a photo - op.

Frankly, I would have skipped it w/ the baby, but my OLDER kids get after me about it. The same with Christmas. Last year I didn't get the baby anything and my 6 year old was in TEARS wondering why she didn't have a stocking/presents. Oops. That is the good part about having all three of yours be the same age!

Photo op here too. Figs had a blast playing with the wrapped candy, but that was the extent of her candy interaction. Oh and her birthday cake was a pile of strawberries. I will not be applying for the mother of the year award this year.

We put our little on in hi costume for pictures and then let him help hand out candy to all the trick or treaters. He is only 19 months old and I knew if I took him trick or treating even to a few house I would be the one eating the candy. So no, you are not the only one.

Jacob Mitiku is a little older than your boys but didn't do the door to door trick-or-treating. He did plenty of it at the zoo, area businesses and at the church halloween party. He got less candy but still had fun. I know in the future we will have to do door to door but I kind of like not having all that candy now. We fight about the little bit he did get. :)

Amen sister! I didnt post pictures. I am really thinking we are not doing anything for the holiday because our kid will NEVER remember. And we are spending money on him anyway like it is bleeding out of our wallets. So, who cares. Let them all send stuff.

Ok, ok, I did it. It's a ridiculous thing to do, but also fun and again, great photos. I realize that and I am confessing that this is one thing that I did just for me. :)

You guys went through a lot of trouble to get candy. They sell it at the store, you know ;).
