Cuter than a Bug on a Sunflower

Yesterday early evening Jerry is playing with the boys outside in their little plastic pool when along comes a local artist, well known to many of us at work. She is looking for a nearby wild sunflower patch to photoshoot the superfluity of insects that hub on these flowers. Here she diverts as three naked baby boy triplets get her focus until Jerry shoos her away so he can get back to the boys and his beer. Click HERE to see seven semi-professional photos (now I realize what a bad photographer I be).

(P.S., Kathy if you see this, don't be mad, they are my boys after all, and they were scantily clad and Jerry still let you shoot.)

This is not the first time the boys attracted professional photographers. Two (two!) National Geographic photographers took dozens of pictures of the boys over several days last June (long story, we were all behind the Prairie Curtain at a conference together. . . and these were for leisure, not for publication in National Geo, of course!). . .and I have not seen a one. I was so hoping to get these and brag all over the world wide web. *Sigh*. Guess mama falls short in importance to these guys!

EDITED: Ahhh! The link is no good anymore. I'm trying to get digital copies from the artist.
UPDATE: new link, may be temporary, click HERE (and there's an eigth photo).

I always thought that children's photography was a big racket, and figured that I'd just take our kids' pictures myself. Well, now that I have two squirmy kiddos, I have a newfound respect for children's photographers and a deep appreciation for the little moments they're able to capture. I have no idea how they do it. (The vast majority of my pictures have at least one child making a bizarre face, blinking, or turning the other direction!)

I still get a kick out of the fact that Tsega has a full head of hair (that looks an awful lot like my Izzie's...) while his brothers are still baldies! Too cute!

Those photos are lovely!

I wanted to recommend a really user-friendly book called (appropriately) 'How to Photograph Your Baby' It's by Nick Kelsh. There are lots of used copies available on amazon. His tips are very simple (nothing about light meters or apertures or anything like that) and after reading his book, my pictures became so much better. One of his best tips is just keep shooting, which with digital, is super easy. When I only shot film, it felt very wasteful.

I have just a few pictures on a recent post, but they are mostly ones I've taken (with Nick's guidance) if you'd like to see.

Ooh, I want to see the photos, but the link shows an empty album. Is there a newer link?

Darn, I missed the photos. I can't imagine how they can beat the boys in the box pics, though. Those are so cute!

A friend told me about your blog and I've been visiting frequently since.

Your boys are just so cute. Their little faces make me smile. :-)
